The extracted file, once put through Outguess, reads: The dimensions of the image are 691x317, two prime numbers that are very odd for image dimensions, as I was hoping someone would notice that! Multiplying them together (hence the title of the image) gives you 219,047, which is the key to be used in Outguess Rebirth. I'm not going to be that hardcore on you guys, so instead I did something similar. To get the passkey to use outguess on this image, if you continue reading in the link above, they used a trick where they multiply three prime numbers together to get a url link. If you want to read more about that puzzle, follow the link below. In their version of the image they used a photo of a decoy duck, but did not include the reference to Rebirth (they used the linux version). This trick with the image was first done by a unknown cryptographic group called Cicada 3301.
#OUTGUESS REBIRTH HOW TO#
This was supposed to provide another path to help you figure out how to solve this image. You might be wondering about the "Oops! Looks like you found a decoy." line.
#OUTGUESS REBIRTH WINDOWS#
The windows version of this tool is called Outguess Rebirth. This is a call to one of the most popular steganographic tools, Outguess. Another thing to notice is the odd phrasing of "Guess the message out". Firstly, the plant in the background is just a reference to the word "Rebirth", and was meant to call your attention to that key word. You won't be able to guess the message out unless you follow the path of rebirth."Īlright, there are a bunch of references in this image so lets get started. This link leads to the image (follow the link if you want to see what it is) with text that says, "Oops! You found a decoy. The decoded message is "Thelinkyouneedtogotois". There is a key for this (brownie points if you can figure it out!) but the key was not provided - columnar transposition ciphers only need the key length to be solved. You can use the link below to solve it for yourself. The second piece of information can be gained by looking at all the capitalized letters in the announcement post, when you put them all together, it spells, "COLUMNARTRANSPOSITIONGOODLUCK". This gives you the key length, as the z# (atomic number) of Boron is 5. The gibberish given at the beginning, iheTlukynoteendogoottshit/s /cbbi.a/io4-3GO-, can be solved with two pieces of information: the first, is "z# of b". The following paragraphs explain the solution to last week's contest. Thank you for your help in making this successful!ĭonation for pot address: DgSdRoAah6NFPPbT6MbGg5Vp1jkC2mLcXu (4D)Īs last time, I need help funding this! ALL funds that go into the pot to go to the winner. What shape am I? The title of the image will help. The following sentence is the hint for the image at the following link. Or, if you're feeling like you don't want anyone else catching up to you, you don't have to - adds a little bit of strategy. If someone PMs me a solution to one of the parts of the puzzle, I will post a hint for the next part here in the thread. I'd like to recruit 1-2 people to help me with making the next one, so send me a PM if you'd like to be involved. I took your suggestions, and I think I came up with a good compromise to start for this contest. The puzzle starts with the image at the link next to the hint. This new one is a lot of fun, and hopefully you still have Outguess Rebirth downloaded from the previous contest, because that's the first step in this one.

Hey all! Nice job with last week's contest, I'd like to give props to the winner of it all.
